Piers Calvert Memorial Road Run
Held on Saturday 25th April 2009 leaving John Sleight's Farm in Etton, Nr Beverley at about 10:00am on a bright sunny morning.
The run was named in memory of our vice chairman who sadly passed away last year and was the main organiser of previous tractor road runs. The drivers followed a pleasant run through some of the prettiest parts of the Yorkshire Wolds before arriving at a local farm where a Pie & Peas lunch was served.
After lunch Mrs M. Calvert presented a trophy, donated by Mr J. Stephenson, to Mr J. Fisher from Hotham for the best turned out tractor on the day. The winning tractor a Lanz Bulldog was in pristine condition and ran without problems.
The run continued after the break going through the picturesque Dalton Estate finishing off back at John Slieght's Farm. After 28 miles the 25 participants get very wet in a short sharp shower that lasted for about 10 minutes.
